Concept

Directory.

Everybody in this hobby knows a shop, and nobody can prove one is good. A directory would be the easy part; standing behind it is the hard part, and we are not going to pretend we can. One shop is here because it is doing documented work on a truck we write about. The rest is a shape, with an invented shop standing in it.

What is a concept

  • One shop is listed, because it is doing documented work on a truck we write about. Nobody else is.
  • No search, filter, listing submission or business review exists, and VWX vets nobody.
  • The shop below was invented for this page. It has no address, no telephone and no door.

A Shop We Made Up

An invented shop, used to show the shape of a listing.

Somewhere with a yard and a good compressor

About this shop

Two people, a lift, and a waiting list nobody publishes. They do the metalwork themselves and send the seats out to someone they trust, which is the only kind of recommendation worth having.

They are invented, which is the point. A real listing would be written by the shop, published with the shop's permission, and would carry the shop's own contact details — not ours, and not made up.

A real listing would carry the shop's own details, given by the shop. This one has none, and we will not invent them.

A shop would show its own work here, credited to whoever photographed it.

Envisioned

  • A listing written by the shop, published only with the shop's consent.
  • Work anyone can look at, rather than a badge we made up.
  • Contact details that belong to the shop, given by the shop.
  • A region browser that admits where it is empty.
  • VWX will not authenticate a vehicle, and will not share anyone's contact details without their consent.

Tell us what you think

  • What would make a shop listing worth reading?
  • Would you trust a directory that vets nobody, if it said so?
