Where Is It Now?

The VWX Owner Registry connects past and present owners of classic Volkswagens— helping you find cars you once loved and preserve the stories of the ones you have now.

Reconnect

Find Volkswagens you once owned. Search by VIN, year, model, or distinctive features to locate your former air-cooled companion.

Preserve

Document your current VW for posterity. Future owners will thank you for the photos, stories, and maintenance history you leave behind.

Connect

Join a community of enthusiasts who believe these cars have stories worth telling. Help others find their lost loves.

How It Works

Three simple steps.

01

Create Your Profile

Sign up with your email. Tell us a bit about yourself and your VW history. This helps us connect you with the right people.

02

Register or Search

Add your current VW to the registry with photos and stories. Or search for a car you once owned using whatever details you remember.

03

Connect Privately

When there's a match, we facilitate introductions. Your contact info stays private until you choose to share it.

Imagine This

A story waiting to happen.

"In 1978, I bought a Ruby Red Karmann Ghia from a guy in San Diego. VIN 145-something-something. I drove it through college, across the country twice, and finally sold it in 1987 when the kids came along."

Thirty years later, you still wonder about that car. Did someone restore it? Is it sitting in a barn somewhere? Did it end up at a show you walked right past?

With the VWX Owner Registry, you can post your story. Maybe the current owner will see it. Maybe they've been wondering about the car's history too. Maybe you'll finally get to see how she turned out.

Questions?

What if I don't remember my VIN?

That's okay! You can search by year, model, color, and distinctive features. The "Looking For" board is perfect for incomplete memories.

Is this only for air-cooled VWs?

Our initial focus is 1949-1980 air-cooled models (Beetle, Bus, Ghia, Type 3, Thing), but we plan to expand.

How do I know if someone found my old car?

If your "Looking For" post matches a registered vehicle, we'll notify you. You can also set up alerts for specific VINs or models.

What's coming next?

Vehicle history integration, interactive timelines showing a car's journey, community features, and more. This is just the beginning.

Is it free?

Basic registration and searching will always be free. Premium features may be introduced later for advanced functionality.
