Most questions about an air-cooled engine have already been answered somewhere. The idea is not a mechanic in a box; it is a short conversation that ends on the right reference page, with the manual still open on the bench beside you.
What is a concept
- No diagnosis, chat service or automated answer exists.
- This page has no message box, and nothing you type would go anywhere.
- The exchange below was written by hand.
Everything below is an illustration.
A question:
My oil pressure light flickers at idle.
Where it would send you:
That is a known pattern, and it is not something a page should guess at. A router would put three things in front of you: the oil-pressure entry in the common issues examples, the parts entries for the relief valve and the pressure switch, and the reminder that the number that settles it comes from a mechanical gauge and a factory manual — not from us.
Always verify critical repair information with a factory service manual
What it would never do
- It would not tell you a car is safe to drive.
- It would not invent a torque figure.
- It would not replace the manual.
Envisioned
- A question matched to a reference page, with the page named.
- An explicit "not covered" instead of a plausible answer.
- Figures quoted only from a cited source, or not quoted.
- Every answer traceable to a page you can read yourself.
- VWX will not authenticate a vehicle, and will not share anyone's contact details without their consent.
Tell us what you think
- Would a router to the right page be more use to you than an answer?
- What would you ask it first?

Visual Spotter
A 1967 Beetle announces itself if you know where to look: the headlights stand up, the bumpers are chrome, the filler is still outside. The idea is a report that reads a photograph the way a knowledgeable friend would, and shows the year ranges it is reasoning from, so you can disagree with it.

Market Values
Anyone can print a number. The hard part is being able to say where it came from. The idea is a value with its evidence attached — the sales it was drawn from, the condition it assumes, the market it applies to — and no number at all until those three exist.
