Concept

Community.

The best thing about these cars is the people who stop to look at them. The idea is somewhere to keep the conversation that happens in a car park: what you fixed, what has you beaten, and who is driving where. None of it exists yet. We would rather show you the shape of it than pretend it is busy.

What is a concept

  • No members, posts or messages exist.
  • The three people below were invented for this page. No real person appears anywhere on it.
  • There is nothing to join, follow or post to. The only thing you can send us is feedback.

Everything below is an illustration.

Four rooms, all of them empty. This is what would be in them.

The three people on this page.

They are invented, and their names say so. Each of them exists only to show the shape of a profile.

Sample Owner Three

@sample-owner-reader

Feed

Three invented posts. There is no box to write in, because there is nowhere for a post to go.

Sample Owner One

The pans are in. First time the car has stood on its own since I got it.

Sample Owner Two

Took the camper out for the weekend. Nothing broke, which is a first.

Sample Owner Three

I do not own one yet. I have read this whole site twice.

Journals

A journal is a garage record, opened to whoever wants to read it. The two below are the invented cars from the garage walkthrough.

The 1959 Single Cab build record

The real record this concept generalises. One car, one shop, written down as it happened.

Clubs

Three invented clubs, with no members, because there are none. A club would be run by the people in it, not by us.

The Invented Bus Society

The Fictional Ghia Register

Events

Three invented gatherings. No date, no place, no organiser — a gathering would be listed by the people running it, with their consent.

What is missing here.

  • No counts, because there is nothing to count.
  • No box to post in, because there is nowhere for a post to go.
  • No Join and no Follow, because there are no members.

Envisioned

  • A question that gets answered with a page you can check for yourself.
  • Build journals that read in order, kept by whoever is doing the work.
  • Clubs with their own corner, rather than a borrowed one.
  • Gatherings listed by the people running them, and only with their consent.
  • VWX will not authenticate a vehicle, and will not share anyone's contact details without their consent.

Tell us what you think

  • Would you post here, or only read?
  • Which of the four would you use: the feed, the journals, the clubs or the gatherings?
  • What would bring you back a second time?
